After Reading
Pray mock that I, aburst with froth
delight in warbling tongues
a screech to me may well as please
all music over heaven
A sermonette of a seizing peace-be-still
under a ceiling fan whirring in excess
the Read Sea parting, the Jordan crossing
mean nothing without slavery’s yoke
My brain is a swelling, putrid wineskin
and I fill it with fresh grapes each morning
pondering an osprey
or the greenies harassed by dolphins
It does not please what may, only may
potency bound in undoneness
